Jarrett Little is a keen cyclist, who never dreamed that his hobby would help save a life one day.
While out enjoying a cycle with some friends, Jarrett happened to come across a stray puppy just outside the small town of Columbus, Georgia,
There lay a five-month-old great Dane mix, who looked like he had been knocked down by a car as his leg looked fractured and he had road rash from his nose to tail.
Once Jarrett realized the dog couldn’t move he knew he had to do something to intervene.
Jarrett gently picked up the puppy placing him on his shoulders began to cycle back into town with the injured dog on his back.
The injured puppy managed to hold on for the seven-mile cycle back into his hometown in Columbus.
Jarrett had made the decision along the route that if no one wanted the puppy he would adopt and look after him.
They stopped at a nearby bike shop to give the puppy some food and water before advancing toward the vet’s emergency office.
While there, the pair bumped into Andrea Shaw, a customer who happened to be visiting the town on a business trip.
Jarrett wrote, about the dog “had an angel waiting for him at the shop right when we pulled up.”
Andrea and the puppy fell in love with each other at first sight and the puppy was named Columbo.
Andrea made the decision to adopt the puppy there and then as was so touched by Columbo’s story, and she simply adored the love and affection he displayed.
Columbo was taken to his new house in Maine once he was checked over at the local vet.
“You can see why I didn’t leave him on the sidewalk in Columbus,” she claims.
Finally adding, “The dog doesn’t have a mean or grumpy bone in his body, and God knows he has every reason to.”
Once Columbo received proper care for his injuries he was given the all clear to travel.
He was transported to Maine, courtesy of a Canine Freedom Transport van which brings stray animals from one state to the other.
It didn’t take too long for Columbo to settle in and enjoy his new found home and life in Maine.
Columbo lives on a horse farm with Andrea’s son Chris who he totally adores.
Andrea tells us “My 5-year-old son is madly in love with him.”
Its very evident that the puppy is ever so happy in his new home, and Andrea captures his adventures and updates them on a Facebook page.
If it wasn’t for Jarrett being so kindhearted “Bo” might never have had this happy opportunity or second chance at life.
